John Tortorella could be coaching in the Atlantic Division next season
Brace yourselves, hockey fans - we may yet see veteran bench boss John Tortorella behind an NHL behind again next season. Tortorella took the year off from coaching in 2021-22 after parting ways with the Columbus Blue Jackets last summer to pursue an opportunity to become an analyst for the NHL with ESPN.
According to a recent report from Kevin Allen, Tortorella could be on Steve Yzerman's short list of candidates for the head coaching job in Detroit.
Tortorella brings that no-nonsense, disciplined, two-way mentality to the teams he coaches and for a young team like the Red Wings, Torts could be the right guy for the job in terms of being able to teach their young guys how to play the game the right way and make them earn their minutes. That's the way Yzerman played the game and it's what makes teams that Torts coaches so hard to play against.
