Leafs lose another defenseman to injury in Nashville
The Leafs lost Jake McCabe to injury on Thursday night against Dallas, which forced the Leafs to play with five defensemen the rest of the game. The Leafs called up William Lagesson ahead of tonight's game against Nashville and now it appears Lagesson will have to play more minutes than expected as Timothy Liljegren left the game midway through the second period.
Liljegren left the game following a hit from Yakov Trenin. Liljegren cleared the puck from the Leafs zone and saw the hit coming. He braced himself, but unfortunately it wasn't enough as he went awkwardly into the boards. Following the hit, Liljegren favoured his shoulder as he made his way to the bench.
Liljegren spoke briefly with trainers before making his way to the room before the end of the period. His status for the third period is still unknown.
