On Friday, Knies unveiled a brand new partnership on his personal Instagram account. His deal with Warroad Hockey kicked off with a commericial to advertise cut-resistent sportswear.
Skate blade cuts are no joke. Just last season, we saw Evander Kane suffer a dangerous wrist laceration after being accidentally stepped on while down on the ice. A few seasons earlier, we saw former Leafs winger Ilya Mikheyev suffer a severe wrist laceration after being clipped by a skate during a game in New Jersey. Both players underwent emergency surgery missed significant time as a result.
Having a player like Matthew Knies, who plays in a hockey hot bed like Toronto, market their product is a great way for Warroad to put their name on the map. Knies has legitimate star potential and with all of the media coverage in Toronto, it will be a great opportunity for both Knies and Warroad to raise awareness for cut-resistant gear and to promote increased safety precautions in the league.
