Also interesting to note was where Leafs bench boss Sheldon Keefe finished in Jack Adams voting, despite posting the 4th best record in the NHL this season, setting records for both wins (54) and points (115) in a single season. NHL Insider Chris Johnston revealed on Thursday night that Keefe finished 11th in the Jack Adams race, with just one single 2nd place vote and three 3rd place votes.
Aside from Sutter, Andrew Brunette (FLA), Girard Gallant (NYR), Dean Evason (MIN), Jared Bednar (COL), Todd McLellan (LAK), Rod Brind'Amour (CAR), Mike Sullivan (PIT), John Hynes (NSH) and Jon Cooper (TBL) were the other 9 coaches who finished ahead of Keefe in voting. Keefe finished just 1 spot ahead of Bruce Boudreau and Jay Woodcroft in the vote, despite blowing both coaches out of the water in the regular season - and yes, this is a regular season award.
Does anyone else find it odd that Keefe, who had the 4th best record this season, is being lumped in with a coach who missed the playoffs (Boudreau) and another who was in jeopardy of missing the playoffs (Woodcroft) - both of whom play in arguably the worst division in the NHL (Pacific)?
Now, I'm not suggesting that Keefe should have finished 4th in voting, but I am suggesting that there aren't 10 others who deserved to finish above him this season.
