The NHL decided to kick off the pre-season with the first game of the 2023-24 pre-campaign in Melbourne, Australia. Of all teams, they decided to send the Los Angeles Kings and Arizona Coyotes to the land down under.
In the end, it worked out pretty well as the two Western Conference teams put on quite the show, including a sensational first unofficial goal for Logan Cooley. There was also a thrilling fight, which brought forth some solid entertainment for the fans in attendance.
Josh Brown of the Coyotes went toe-to-toe with Jacob Doty of the Kings in a rock-em-sock-em style fight. Brown came in at 6'5/220lbs, while Doty stood in at 6'3/225lbs - a true heavyweight scrap. Have a look:
The fight lasted 45 seconds with both players exchanging heavy bombs on one another, the referees let them continue without stepping in too soon, and much to the delight of the crowd, it ended in a spirited draw.
