Leafs media day finally gave us some non-Babcock related content to report on today. The biggest news of the day, outside of the Murray and Muzzin news, is that Nylander will skate as a center in training camp. The idea was presented by Brad Treliving, an interesting detail considering the ongoing contract negotiations between them.
At the moment, John Tavares is not being moved to the wing as some expected, meaning that the Leafs will be running with Matthews, Tavares, Nylander and Kampf as their 4 centers. That's an incredibly deep lineup down the middle. If Nylander can successfully play the position, it could provide the Leafs with a 3-headed dragon and a legit scoring threat on each of the top 3 lines.
