The Toronto Maple Leafs weren't able to walk away with a win on Monday night against the Buffalo Sabres, and one call in particular has rubbed Leaf fans and head coach Mike Babcock the wrong way. About half way into the third period, Sabres forward Johan Larsson went after a rebound after a point shot by Jason Pominville. As Larsson was trying to coral the puck he went across the crease and made contact with Frederik Andersen's skate and leg as he put the puck in the net.
The refs ruled it a good goal on the ice and the call was upheld after video review. Following the review, Babcock started to go off on the refs and laughing at them. He was asked about the play after the game and was still frustrated. "What I don't like is that the report that came out from the league is different than what they told me. They told me he was interfered with outside of the paint, which is not true. That tonight is goaltender interference, any way you look at it. The coaches in the league… no one knows what is going on. We better get it solved. Just this statement saying, «Okay, we're going to leave it the way it is…» No chance. Let's get it fixed. Let's get it fixed before the playoffs so we all know the rules."
The Leafs have been the victim of some bad goalie interference calls this season, what do you think of Babcock's comments? Here's he goal in question:
