BREAKING Auston Matthews Leaves Team After Fight With Babcock.

Huge drama out of Leafs' land after a 3-1 loss to the Winnipeg Jets at home last night. Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews has jumped on a plane and headed back to Arizona after a huge fight with head coach Mike Babcock. The fight apparently stems over the decision to make veteran forward Tomas Plekanec a healthy scratch on Saturday. Babcock had mentioned he would give some vets a rest, but with Plekanec having just arrived in Toronto and still getting comfortable with the system, Matthews felt it was vital that Plekanec gets more minutes on the ice to help prepare him for the playoffs. The argument became so heated in the locker room after the game that the two actually had to be separated. Matthews left the building and jumped on an early morning flight on Sunday back home to Arizona. The Toronto Maple Leafs and head coach Mike Babcock have yet to make a statement and Matthews and his agent were unavailable for comment. The news was originally reported by TSN's April Foolington this morning.
