"The Toronto Maple Leafs already have a highly respected front office and scouting department. President and alternate governor Brendan Shanahan and general manager Kyle Dubas might be looking to make it even stronger.
NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reports that the Los Angeles Kings and assistant general manager Mike Futa are ready to part ways. Futa has been mostly handling the draft and amateur scouting the last couple of years and has helped the Kings reach the top of the prospect rankings. The Athletic ranked the Los Angeles Kings as the league with the best and deepest prospect pool ahead of the Montreal Canadiens at #2. Friedman adds that the Kings have given Futa permission to speak to other teams while director of amateur scouting Mark Yannetti will handle the upcoming draft. «The LA Kings will not be renewing the expiring contract of Mike Futa. We appreciate his contributions to our organization and are thankful for his effort and dedication.»
Futa will have a lineup of teams looking to hire him and HockeyFeed.com reports that the Toronto Maple Leafs sit at the top of he list as they search for a "strong assistant with championship pedigree to work alongside general manager Kyle Dubas".
