The Maple Leafs provided positive updates on the status of Chris Tanev and William Nylander after they both suffered injuries Tuesday night against the Boston Bruins.

The 35-year-old appeared to be favouring his shoulder as he made his way to the bench and was seen leaving TD Garden with his right arm in a sling.
Following a small practice on Wednesday, head coach Craig Berube shared that Tanev is 'day-to-day' but is unlikely to play Friday against the New York Rangers.
While Tanev will be unavailable to the Leafs Friday, William Nylander's status is up in the air after the forward 'tweaked something' and missed the overtime period Tuesday night.
Although Berube noted that Nylander's injury was 'nothing serious' and Tanev as 'day-to-day' the Leafs have downplayed injuries all season, so it should not come as a surprise to fans to see Nylander sit on Friday and for Tanev to miss the next couple of games at the very least.
Nylander's injury won't have much of an impact on the Leafs' trade deadline plans, but should Tanev's injury be longer than Berube expects, the Leafs and GM Brad Treliving may have to pivot from a center upgrade to adding a reliable, top-four defenseman.
Needless to say, the next week and a half until the deadline will be very interesting for the Leafs and Leaf fans as they anxiously wait for Treliving to make a significant move or two.
