The Minnesota Wild have placed a veteran defenceman and former Toronto Maple Leaf on waivers ahead of the highly anticipated trade deadline.

If any NHL team is in the market for a veteran defenceman, there's one available on the waiver wire.
The Minnesota Wild have placed Travis Dermott, a former member of the Toronto Maple Leafs with just under 350 NHL games under his belt, on waivers on Tuesday.
According to reports, the Wild want to call up another forward from the AHL to take on their upcoming road trip, which is the reason behind Dermott's demotion.
The 28-year-old is a former Maple Leafs draft pick, being selected in the second round (34th) overall, back in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
Ultimately, Dermott was not given a qualifying offer from the Canucks, making him a free agent at the end of the season. Dermott then signed with the Arizona Coyotes.
After a brief stop in Arizona, Dermott signed with the Edmonton Oilers, but was placed on waivers in December and was subsequently picked up by the Minnesota Wild.
Dermott has played in nine games with the Minnesota Wild this season, but has no goals or assists. If he's not claimed from the waiver wire, it's expected that he'll be sent to the Iowa Wild of the AHL.
