Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube has implied that a significant change is coming in Toronto with the imminent return of veteran forward Calle Jarnkrok.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have come out of the 4 Nations Face-Off break with some momentum, picking up back-to-back wins against Carolina and Chicago ahead of tonight's season series finale against Boston.
The Leafs are currently sitting in first place in the Atlantic Division, but that doesn't mean that everyone on the roster is necessarily safe.
There has been some speculation that Ryan Reaves may be waived or traded by the Leafs, due to Jarnkrok's upcoming return. David Kampf is another player who has a cap hit much higher than the league minimum who may be in jeopardy of being dealt.
Jarnkrok has missed the entire 2024-25 season to date, having dealt with a lower body injury and a sports hernia, which required surgery.
On Tuesday, some comments from Craig Berube have some believing that a move is closer than anyone is anticipating. Berube told the media in Boston on Tuesday that Jarnkrok is feeling great and that he'll return as soon as the Leafs take care of some "stuff", meaning that they have to move some money before the Swedish forward and his $2.1M salary can be activated from LTIR.
Jarnkrok is accompanying the Leafs on their 3-game road trip, with stops tonight in Boston, Friday in New York and Sunday in Pittsburgh.
While Jarnkrok will not suit up in Boston, it appears likely that he'll be in the lineup later this week, which puts a timeline on a transaction of some sort taking place between now and this weekend.
