The Toronto Maple Leafs organization has released the jersey numbers of 7 of their new arrivals, including Chris Tanev and Oliver Ekman-Larsson.

The Maple Leafs underwent significant changes this offseason, particularly on defense, with the additions of Chris Tanev, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, and newly signed Jani Hakanpaa, among others.

With new players come new jersey numbers. The Maple Leafs' website has updated the jersey numbers for the new arrivals, as reported by @dalter on X:

'' Per #Leafs website.

Chris Tanev will wear 8
Cedric Pare will wear 56
Oliver Ekman-Larsson will wear 95
Jani Hakanpaa will wear 28
Dakota Mermis will wear 36
Philippe Myers will wear 51

Dennis Hildeby has been wearing 35 at camp, changed from 41 presumably due to Stolarz' arrivals.''

One notable number is Tanev's, which is No. 8, previously worn by Jake Muzzin. Muzzin was forced to retire due to a spinal injury, with his final games being the 4 he played in the 2023-24 season. Ironically, Tanev is a player similar to Muzzin in terms of defensive skill, experience, and have a difficult to play against style of play for opponents.

As the Maple Leafs prepare for the new season next month, their team will look quite different, not only because of the new jersey numbers but also due to the many new players making their debut as Maple Leafs.
