Shortly after being sent back to the Kamloops Blazers of the WHL by the Toronto Maple Leafs, Fraser Minten was traded by the Blazers to the Saskatoon Blades. Minten has played in 4 games for the Blades thus far, and last night Minten and the Blades took on the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

With the game tied at one with just over three minutes left in the second period, Minten was defending a rush led by 2024 draft prospect Miguel Marques. As Marques was cutting through the middle in the Blades' zone, Minten went to hit him, but unfortunately caught Marques' knee, sending him flying. Minten was immediately challenged to a fight - one in which he definitely didn't get the best of his opponent.

Minten was assessed 20 minutes in penalties on the play - 5 minutes for kneeing, 5 minutes for fighting, and a 10-minute game misconduct.

The WHL has a history of issuing supplemental discipline on these kinds of hits, so Minten could find himself sitting for a few of the Blades' upcoming games. The good news is that Marques was able to return to the game so that will likely minimize the number of games Minten misses.
