Bruins forward arrested and placed on an immediate leave of absence by the team
As a precursor, it's probably wise for us to say that this situation is still very new and there's not really a lot of information to go on right now, but on Saturday morning, the hockey world has just learned that Boston Bruins forward Milan Lucic will be placed on an indefinite leave of absence after he was arrested early this morning for an alleged domestic incident.
More information will assuredly follow but the Bruins have come forward with a statement:
"The Boston Bruins are aware of an incident involving Milan Lucic Friday evening. Milan is taking an indefinite leave of absence from the team. The organization takes these matters very seriously."
Lucic was picked up by police this morning and his mug shot is currently making the rounds online.
The veteran forward returned to Boston this summer on a one-year deal after having the spent the last 8 years in Los Angeles, Edmonton, and Calgary. Lucic had played in just 4 games this season and had recorded 2 assists.
It's important for us not to speculate too much as to what may have occurred. We'll continue to monitor the situation and provide an update as soon as one becomes available.
