Friedman is one of hockey's most reliable and trusted insiders. While usually relied upon to provide updates and news from around the NHL, Elliotte's latest comments were about his now former podcast co-host, Jeff Marek.
Marek officially confirmed on Friday that he is indeed leaving Sportsnet, but the strange thing is that nobody knows why other than speculation about an apparent issue relating to the 2024 NHL Draft. According to Friedman, all we know is that he hopped back on a plane on June 29th (day 2 of the draft) and hasn't tweeted or been on the 32 Thoughts podcast since until he finally broke his silence on Friday.
It's quite unusual for a reputable journalist with decades of experience to just go AWOL after spending over 13 years on Sportsnet.
As for Friedman, he has officially confirmed that his popular "32 Thoughts" podcast will still continue. We'll have to wait to see what changes are made for the upcoming season.
